About PicFlow

PicFlow is an AI photo browser for Mac. It opens huge photo folders instantly with no import step, finds photos when you describe them in plain words, and brings AI photo tools — colorize, object removal, face restoration, upscaling — to your library. Everything runs locally on your Mac; your photos are never uploaded.

Requirements

  • A Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 15.6 or later.
  • An internet connection the first time you use an AI feature, to download its model file. After that, AI features work offline.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get started?

Open PicFlow and point it at a folder. There is no import and no library lock-in — PicFlow reads your photos in place and starts building thumbnails and search data in the background while you browse.

How does semantic search work?

Describe what you remember — "cat on a windowsill", "sunset at the beach" — and PicFlow matches your words against the photos' content using an on-device model. No manual tagging is needed, and your search queries never leave your Mac. Indexing a large folder takes a little time on first open; search results improve as indexing completes.

Why is PicFlow downloading something the first time I use an AI feature?

AI model files are not bundled with the app to keep the initial download small. The first time you use a feature such as semantic search, colorize, object removal, face restoration, or upscaling, PicFlow downloads that feature's model from our CDN. This is a one-way download of a generic model file — no photos or personal data are sent. Once downloaded, the feature works fully offline.

Are my photos ever uploaded?

No. All AI processing happens on your Mac using the downloaded on-device models. The only network traffic is the model downloads themselves and App Store purchases handled by Apple. See the PicFlow Privacy Policy for details.

A model download failed — what should I check?

  1. Make sure your Mac has a working internet connection.
  2. Check free disk space — some models are large, and PicFlow verifies the file after download.
  3. Retry the download from the same AI feature. Interrupted downloads resume where they left off.

What does PicFlow Pro include?

PicFlow offers an optional one-time Pro upgrade — no subscription. The current price and the exact features it unlocks are shown inside the app and on the Mac App Store listing. Purchases are processed by Apple and can be restored on any Mac signed into the same Apple ID.

How do I remove PicFlow's data?

Uninstall the app. PicFlow's index (thumbnails, tags, search data) and downloaded AI models live in the app's local storage and are removed with it. Your photos are never moved or copied, so they stay exactly where they were in your folders.

Does PicFlow modify my original photos?

Not without your action. Browsing and indexing are read-only. When you use an AI tool, you choose where the result is saved.
