PicFlow Privacy Policy

Summary

PicFlow is an AI photo browser for Mac. Your photos stay in your folders on your Mac — PicFlow reads them in place and never uploads them. There is no account, no analytics, and no backend server holding your data. All browsing, search, and AI processing runs on your device.

The only network traffic PicFlow generates is downloading AI model files from our content delivery network (CDN) the first time you use an AI feature, and App Store purchases handled by Apple. Neither involves your photos or personal information.

What we collect

Nothing. PicFlow does not collect personal data.

  • No account, email, or sign-in is required.
  • No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting SDKs are bundled.
  • No advertising or tracking identifiers are read or transmitted.
  • Your photos, search queries, tags, and edits are never sent to us or to any third party.

Your photos

PicFlow works directly with folders you choose to open. It does not import or copy your library anywhere.

  • Photos are read in place from your folders, only after you grant access through the standard macOS open dialog.
  • To make browsing and search fast, PicFlow builds an index — thumbnails, automatic tags, and search data — stored locally in the app's sandbox on your Mac.
  • Edits made with AI tools are saved where you choose; originals are not modified without your action.
  • Uninstalling PicFlow removes the app's index. Your photos, of course, remain in your folders untouched.

AI features and model downloads

PicFlow's AI features — semantic search, photo colorization, object removal, face restoration, and resolution upscaling — run entirely on your Mac using on-device models. To keep the initial download small, these model files are not bundled with the app.

  • The first time you use an AI feature, PicFlow downloads the required model file from our CDN (hosted on Cloudflare).
  • This is a one-way download of a generic model file. The request contains no photo content, file names, search queries, or personal identifiers. As with any internet download, the CDN technically sees your IP address while serving the file.
  • After download, the model is stored locally and the feature works fully offline. Your photos are processed on your Mac and are never uploaded — not during download, not during AI processing.
  • Downloaded models live in the app's local storage and are removed when you uninstall PicFlow. They can be re-downloaded at any time.

In-app purchase

PicFlow offers an optional one-time Pro upgrade. The transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the Mac App Store. We do not collect or have access to your payment information.

Data we do not have

Because PicFlow has no backend and no account system, the following are physically impossible:

  • We cannot see your photos, searches, or tags.
  • We cannot recover your index or settings if you uninstall the app.
  • We cannot answer "do you have my data?" with anything other than "no."

Children

PicFlow is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how PicFlow handles data — for example, by adding an optional service that requires sending data off device — we will update this page and bump the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be surfaced inside the app before they take effect.
